- Categorized in: Other Fun Stuff
One of the fastest kitesurfers on the planet, Alex Caizergues will be the headline act as one of the longest kitesurfing races ever to be staged in Australia sets off in Western Australia during December.
Starting at Phillip Point Rottnest Island, off the coast of Perth, the inaugural Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton, presented by the WA Kitesurfing Association (WAKSA) will set sail on Saturday December 11 (yep, this weekend), with competitors speeding across the Indian Ocean on the Gage Roads channel and finishing at Leighton Beach, North Fremantle.
The battle for the title of 'the fastest speed sailor in the world is far from over and 50 local, national and international kitesurfers will have the opportunity to challenge Caizergues. With the famous Fremantle Doctor wind blowing, the race is expected to take between 30 and 40 minutes for the fastest kiters. The event is made possible with assistance from Fremantle Ports and Royal Life Saving WA.
We're always on the hunt for great things to be in on. We got onto this late. Red Bull have to be among the greatest supporters of extreme sport on the planet, so we're talking to them about getting in on the news earlier. Meanwhile, if you're already in this race, let us have some photos, we'd love to share them.
